Domestic abuse affects 1 in 5 women, so you are not alone. It is not your fault – the person who abuses you is responsible.

Domestic abuse doesn’t just happen once. It is persistent behaviour by a partner or ex-partner which hurts you physically, sexually and/or emotionally. It often gets worse over time.

There may be no scars, broken bones or bruises. Your partner may stop you doing the things you would like to do such as seeing family or friends, or they may constantly put you down. However some women can end up at the doctors and some women may die.

Ross-shire Women’s Aid provide services in the Ross-shire, Skye and Lochalsh area these include:

  • One to one support by phone, text or in person
  • Group support
  • Information on your rights
  • Advocacy
  • Safe accommodation

We will listen in confidence and believe you. You can contact us by phone or arrange to meet a worker at a time and place which is safe for you. We will support you whether you are still with your partner or if you are ready to leave. We can help with whatever kind of abuse you are experiencing from your partner. We will support any women whose partner or ex-partner abuses them regardless of whether their partner is male or female.

The decisions elected members and council officials make have a direct impact on our service and the lives of the women, children and young people we support.
