Ross-shire Women’s Aid was set up in 1980 when a group of women from the local area got together and started the organisation. The ethos of the organisation then and today was based on women helping women. We provide a non-judgemental, empowering and supportive service to women, children and young people.
In December 1981 we received a local authority house in Dingwall, rent free by the District Council, which gave us enough space to squeeze in two families and a woman on her own. Today we have a purpose built refuge which can provide accommodation to 7 women and their families, and has a flat suitable for a women or child with a disability.
We are committed to ensuring the voices of women, children and young people who have experience of domestic abuse are heard and inform our services.
