16 Day of Activism against Gender Based Violence

We are holding an event to highlight the 16 days of activism against gender based violence which is taking place on Friday 30th November from 7.30 - 8.30 @ Portree High School. We will be launching out “Together we can stop it” book, which contains poems and images developed by the women and young people who use are service as part of the “together we can stop it” campaign. There will also be a performance of “The Little Things” by Breeze Productions. If you would like to attendance this then please email info@rosswa.co.uk

AGM

Our AGM will be taking place on Thursday 29th November at the Victoria Suite, Ross County Football Stadium. Before our AGM we will be hosting a Seminar entitled “Preventing Domestic Abuse, Promoting Healthy Relationships with Young People”. The Seminar will be from 12.30pm until 4.30pm, with registration from 12 Noon. The seminar will be facilitated by Linda Thompson of the Women’s Support Project and Jennifer Lawson of the Sexability Project. The Outcomes for the Seminar: • Increase confidence in raising issues around sexual health and healthy relationships with young people including issues such as sexual pressuring, sexting and consent. • Increase awareness of the impact of the media and the sexualisation of children and young people’s relationships • Increase awareness of the impact of pornography on young people The Seminar will be followed by our AGM. The AGM will be from 5.30-7.00pm. This year we will be launching our ‘STOP IT’ project which has been developed by women who use our service as part of the ‘together we can stop it’ campaign. There will also be a performance of ‘The Little Things’ by Breeze Productions, and input from the children and young people who have used our service.

Peace One Day Event

On the 21st of September, We joined individuals and organizations across the world to come together in support of the Global Truce, an international call for a reduction of domestic abuse. We held a candlelit vigil in Inverness at dusk to bring people together to shine a light on domestic abuse and to join the international call for peace. Rona Memburg who took part in the candlelit vigil put together a poem called Silence Of Power, Click on the link to view. Cupcakes & Chat

We are holding a fundraiser in Dingwall Town Hall on 2nd November from 7pm. Come along and learn 4 ways to decorate cupcakes and enjoy a glass of fizz. Tickets are £10.00, contact 01349 862689 to book your place.
